Joycelyn Mercier Mistretta, 77, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009. She was a former residence of New Orleans and formerly a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church in New Orleans for 43 years before having to relocate for Hurricane Katrina. Mistretta attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell for the past two years.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Roy Mistretta Sr.; three children, Roy Mistretta Jr., Deborah Haney and Gina Mistretta; 10 grandchildren, Shane, Alicia, Brandy, Carlee, Brett, Christina, Randle, Allan, Roy III and Lauren; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Blake, Rhonda, Devin, Jordan, Ashly, Alyssa, Anthony, Aubrey, Ashton and Maddie. She is also survived by her brother Perry Matulich and sister Gertrude Hoadly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Mercier and Gloria Koenig, daughter Rhonda LaBiche and grandson Andrew Perreand.

Services were held Monday at the D.T. Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River.

Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
