Henry Thomas Haro Jr., 78, of Slidell, peacefully passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his home with his family by his side.

He was survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anna Mae “Grace” Arnone Haro.

He was a loving father to Henry T. Haro III (Sandra), Eric A. Haro, Julie H. Pichon (Michael) and Tammy H. Harrison (Bobby). He was the son of the late Henry T. and Vivian Wiltz Haro Sr.; brother of Betty Labasse, the late Arthur Haro and Joyce Burley. He is also survived by severn grandchildren, Nicholas, Blayne, Brennan, Brianna, Ashlyn, Shelbi and Madison.

He was a native of New Orleans and a long time resident of Slidell. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1954, he founded Haro Glass & Mirror Works in New Orleans, which is still in operation.

He was a devoted family man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Concerned Care Hospice.

Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
