The deadline for guaranteed reservations for this week’s Second Wednesday Luncheon hosted by the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce was last Friday. But I’ll bet if you call first thing tomorrow morning, you can still get in.

It takes place at The Gallery with the doors opening at 11:30 a.m. for networking, and lunch and the program get underway at noon.

The guest speaker will be Steven Moret, Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development, and his topic will be “Strengthening and Supporting the Business Climate in Our Region.”

The cost is $25 for chamber members, $30 for future members. Phone 643-5678 to reserve.

You’re invited to Wine and Dine with Hospice this Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at Benedict’s Plantation in Mandeville.

The fundraiser for the Hospice Foundation of the South will feature a tasting of more than 200 varieties of wine, food from some of the area’s finest restaurants, and music by Seago’s Sentimental Serenaders.

Tickets are $75 in advance, $65 each for 10 or more. They can be purchased at the hospice office in Slidell and at the Mandeville, Slidell, and Hwy. 190 branches of Whitney Bank.

A raffle for an Instant Wine Cellar will also be held at the event. Take a chance for just $5 or six for $20 and you could win over 150 varieties of wine donatd by the wineries of Select Brands. Tickets may be purchased at the locations above.

Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
