The Republican Parish Executive Committee of St. Tammany Parish is asking GOP members in the Slidell area if they would be interested in filling a recent vacancy on the committee.

The District 11 representative on the RPEC recently resigned, and now a replacement will be selected by the committee to serve the remainder of the term, which expires in March 2012.

The RPEC is a 19-member board with 14 members being elected from each of the Parish Council districts, and five members are elected at large.

The functions of the RPEC are voter education, voter registration and voter participation.

Anybody who wants to serve on the RPEC must live within District 11, which is near Slidell, have been a registered Republican for a minimum of six months and be willing to serve on a volunteer basis to advance Republican causes and concerns.

To be considered for the position, mail a resume and letter to RPEC Chair Pam Egan, 190 Eagle Road, Covington, LA, 70435.

For more information on the position and the RPEC visit their Web site at www.strpec.org, or call 989-0770.
